Alumni Tours

Alumni involvement is important! We love welcoming classes back to campus to celebrate milestone anniversaries! For many, this is the first time they have been on campus since graduation day.

If your class is in the process of planning a reunion weekend, be sure to think about South High! We offer the chance to enjoy a guided tour of the school when available. Tours are conducted free of any charge to your class.

Tours are usually offered after school hours on Fridays (no earlier than 4 p.m. to avoid dismissal traffic) or on Saturdays.

What you can expect:

• Reserved parking areas in front of the school. If another event is happening on campus that day, we will reserve a lot for your group. This lot includes handicap parking spaces and accessibility.
• Archive artifacts on display. We make our best effort to find items in the archive related to your class! These items usually include yearbooks, South Wind newspapers, scrapbooks, etc., as available.
• A guided tour through each hallway (or building as they are formerly known as) including Upper A, Lower A, B, C and D hallways, the band room, cafeteria, auditorium, library, and gym. If there is a specific area your group would like to see, please let your tour guide know at the start of the tour.
•  An oral history of the school during the tour including explanations of what changed during major renovations and current functions of the school.

What you need to do to schedule a tour

• Email school archive curator Brayden Leather ('18) at leathbra@wcps.k12.md.us to select a date and time. If the facility schedule has major events occurring on campus, an alternate date may need to be chosen. We recommend scheduling tours a few months in advance.
• In your email, please include an estimated number of attendees and if any accommodations are needed (handicap accessibility, etc.)
